2004/05 Chair: Teresa Stitt Club Service is the area responsible for the general operation of the club such as fundraising, membership, newsletter, programs, public relations, and the web site. The Club Service committee creates and implements plans that guide and assist the members of this club in carrying out their responsibilities in matters relating to club service. The chair of the club service committee is responsible for regular meetings of the committee and reports to the board on all club service activities. Activities of the Club Service Committee include: (a) Attendance Committee. This committee is responsible for encouraging attendance at all Rotary meetings, including attendance at district conferences, inter-city meetings, regional conferences, and international conventions by all club members. The committee especially encourages attendance at our regular club meetings and attendance at meetings of other Rotary clubs when unable to attend Saginaw Sunrise meetings; keep all members informed on attendance requirements; promote better incentives for good attendance; and seek to ascertain and remove the conditions that contribute to unsatisfactory attendance. (b) Classification Committee. This committee annually, but no later than August 31 of each year, surveys classifications within the community; compiles from the survey a roster of filled and unfilled classifications, applies the classification principle; reviews existing classifications represented in the club; and advises the board on all classification matters. (c) Club Bulletin Committee. This committee oversees the communication methods used to stimulate interest and improve attendance, announce the program of the forthcoming meeting, relate highlights of the previous meeting, promote fellowship, contribute to the Rotary education of all members, and report news of the club, of its members and of the worldwide Rotary program. (d) Fellowship Activities Committee. This committee promotes acquaintance and friendship among the members, promotes participation by members in organized Rotary recreational and social activities, and does such work in pursuance of the general object of the club. (e) Magazine Committee. This committee stimulates reader interest in Rotary International's THE ROTARIAN; sponsors a magazine month; arranges for brief monthly reviews of the magazine on regular club programs; encourages the use of the magazine in the induction of new members; provides a copy of the magazine for non-Rotarian speakers; secures international service and other special subscriptions for libraries, hospitals, schools and other reading rooms; sends news items and photographs to the editor of the magazine and in other ways makes the magazine of service to the club members and non-Rotarians. (f) Membership Committee. This committee considers all proposals for membership from the personal side and investigates the character, business, social and community standing, and general eligibility of all persons proposed for membership and reports their decisions on all applications to the board. (g) Membership Development Committee. This committee reviews the club roster of filled and unfilled classifications and takes positive action to initiate and present to the board the names of suitable persons to fill unfilled classifications. (h) Program Committee. This committee prepares and arranges the programs for the regular and special meetings of the club. (i) Public Relations Committee. This committee creates and implements plans (1) to give the public general information about Rotary, its history, object, and scope; and (2) to secure proper publicity for the club. (j) Rotary Information Committee. This committee informs prospective members about the privileges and responsibilities of Rotary club membership; keeps members informed about the history, object and activities of Rotary at all levels; and oversees the orientation of new members during their first year in the club. (k) Web Site Committee. This committee is responsible for the maintenance of the club web site.
